A navy bonded leather binding gives this edition of Mastering the Art of French Cooking a particularly classic place in the cook’s library. Julia Child, Simone Beck and Louisette Bertholle explain French methods through 524 recipes and more than 100 instructional illustrations, with the detail that makes a technique worth learning.

“I would keep a notebook alongside this volume to record the dishes worth repeating, leaving the pages themselves clear for the next person who cooks from it.”
-Mrs. Mayfair

Care & Ownership

Dust the closed volume gently with a soft, dry cloth or a soft brush, working away from the spine. Handle with clean, dry hands, support both covers when reading and use a bookmark rather than folding a page. Keep away from splashes, direct sunlight and radiators; store upright with gentle support, or flat if the volume is large. Do not apply household polish, oils or leather dressing to the binding.

Maker / Heritage

Graphic Image began with Bennett Glazer’s attention to typography and the leather diaries he designed in 1977. His earlier work as the Franklin Library’s first design director gave the company its grounding in collectible bookbinding. A long collaboration with Tiffany & Co. included developing signature blue leathers from French and Italian tanneries, a revealing example of how closely the company considers color and finish. That same care connects its books, albums and home accessories. The aim is a familiar object worth handling and sharing, with a binding or leather surface that invites it into daily life.
